UPS starts a new chapter

Union Preparatory School started a new chapter with its newly appointed principal, Mrs Belinda Botha, today.

Mrs Botha was welcomed to the school at a special assembly attended by parents and members of the community.

Mrs Botha joined UPS from Asherville Secondary School, where she was part of the Senior Management Team and served as the Head of Department (English).

It is a mark of the high regard in which she was held at Asherville SS, that many of her former colleagues attended the special assembly this morning to witness her inauguration at UPS.

According to a former colleague of Mrs Botha, Mr Loy Bosch, her greatest asset is her passion for the enhancement and continuous development of the learners in her care.

“Her principled, fair and rational approach will fill you with the confidence to extend yourself, to continue to strive for excellence and to never shrink from your purpose,” said Mr Bosch.

“Mrs Botha brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role, with 37 years of teaching and leadership experience in co-educational schools. I have every confidence that she will draw from her extensive experiences in the education sector to guide the school to greater heights,” said Mr Stephen Bezuidenhout, Chairperson of the Governing Body.

“On behalf of the School Governing Body, I welcome and congratulate Mrs Botha: may she enjoy many rewarding years at Union Preparatory,” concluded Mr Bezuidenhout.
