World Literacy Day

Today, Union Preparatory School, Graaff-Reinet came alive with magic, mischief and marvellous imagination as we celebrated 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘆 with a 𝘉𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘋𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴-𝘜𝘱 𝘋𝘢𝘺!

Our corridors were filled with beloved storybook heroes and villains – from the whimsical 𝘔𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘢 with her kind-hearted 𝘔𝘪𝘴𝘴 𝘏𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘺 and fearsome 𝘔𝘪𝘴𝘴 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘩𝘣𝘶𝘭𝘭, to an entire army of 𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘗𝘰𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴.

We spotted a brave 𝘊𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘜𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴, the wise 𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘹, plenty of mysterious, non-smiling 𝘞𝘦𝘥𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘥𝘢𝘺𝘴, the adventurous 𝘗𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘪 𝘓𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 and even 𝘑𝘢𝘴𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘦 and 𝘗𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘴 gracing our classrooms.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗷𝗼𝘆𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 – sparking imagination, inspiring creativity and showing us that through stories, we can be anything we dream of.

A huge 𝗪𝗘𝗟𝗟 𝗗𝗢𝗡𝗘 to our learners (and parents!) for the incredible effort put into these fantastic costumes – you made World Literacy Day an unforgettable celebration of the wonder of reading!
