Five Destiny Swimming Academy swimmers from Graaff-Reinet participated in the 𝗡𝗘𝗟𝗦𝗢𝗡 𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗟𝗔 𝗕𝗔𝗬 𝗔𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗦 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣𝗦 held this past weekend, 9 to 11 December, in Gqeberha.
Grade 3 learners 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗼 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻 and 𝗧𝗮𝘆𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗯𝘀 represented Union Preparatory School, Graaff-Reinet, while Nina Pieterse represented the home-schooling community and Zenicke van Schalkwyk and Marlien Crewe-Brown represented Volkskool.
𝘈𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘸𝘪𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘸𝘪𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘛𝘢𝘺𝘭𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘰 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴.
While 𝗧𝗮𝘆𝗹𝗼𝗿 received a silver medal for her 50m Backstroke with a PB time of 41.26s and a Silver in the 100m Backstroke with a PB time of 1:29:96s, 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗼 claimed Bronze for the 50m Breaststroke with a PB time of 49:52s.
