What an honour it is to complete you whole school career in one school, and in this case – Union!
Twelve years ago a group of 24 Grade 1s started their schooling at Union Preparatory School. For twelve years they learned together, laughed together, played sport together, had fun together and were naughty together. Now, twelve years later, they will be matriculating from Union High School – together.
To celebrate this #milestone, every year, the Grade 4 class of Union Preparatory School hosts an A to 10 Dinner.
The A to 10 Dinner is one of the great traditions at Union, and always a very special occasion.
This formal event is especially for those learners that completed their whole schooling career at Union and sees the matrics and their parents – who are dressed to the nines – being welcomed at Union Preparatory School for a night they’ll never forget!
As usual, the dancing with the Grade 4s was incredibly entertaining to watch and do. Seeing the parents and matrics skipping around definitely inspired laughter and the fun wasn’t lost in between the losing of shoes and partners.
The Grade 4s then sang beautifully, with the matrics especially enjoying the final song where each of their names was sung in turn, as they said their goodbyes.
A very special moment was when Mrs Alet Kingwill reflected back on the learners’ time at Union Preparatory School. There were stories that had been long forgotten, but hearing them brought back fond memories of their days spent at Union Prep. The matrics were reminded of the silly things they did and the legacy they left behind. To quote Winnie the Pooh, “[They] didn’t realize [they] were making memories, [they] just knew [they] were having fun.”
As always, the A to 10 Dinner was filled with fun, lots of laughs and to end the evening, a beautifully prepared 3-course dinner.
• Union Preparatory School extends a special word of thanks to the Prep School staff for all their efforts in realising this event, as well as to all the Grade 4 moms who assisted with the food and décor and assisted on the day! Your hard work is immensely appreciated!
