On Saturday, 15 February, Union’s u/13A and u/11A cricketers travelled to Uitenhage to compete against Muir College.
• The u/13s put together a stellar performance during their encounter.
Muir won the toss and elected to bat. Exceptional bowling by Union, however, made scoring impossible and Union managed to bowl Muir out for 48 after 21.4 overs.
Union’s motivated batsmen then made light work of the target and managed to chase down Muir’s score in 10.4 overs winning by 7 wickets in the end.
• In the u/11A team’s match, Union won the toss and elected to bat first.
The boys got off to a very good start and managed to continue the momentum throughout the game.
Union’s batsmen put a score of 167 on the board in their allotted 30 overs. The team’s best batsmen were Callum Jacobs (59) and Owen Paxton (37).
Union’s bowling innings then got off to a slow start, with the boys only starting to claim wickets after the 10th over.
They still, however, managed to bowl out Muir for 97 runs in the 30th over of the innings.
Union’s best u/11 bowlers were Owen Paxton with 3 wickets and James Stocks with 3 wickets as well.
Union won the game by 70 runs.
Union Preparatory School’s u/9A mini-cricket team travelled to Somerset East yesterday afternoon where they played a T20 against their Gill Primary School counterparts.
Both teams played very well and showed good sportsmanship.
Ultimately, it was Union’s cricketers who won the match by 19 runs.
Well done, boys!
