Reflecting on a year of Mr Kingwill celebrated the achievements of learners who have excelled across academics, sport and culture. He commended the collective effort of parents, teachers and learners in upholding the schoolโs reputation for excellence, describing Union Preparatory as โ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฆ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ข๐ฏ ๐ซ๐ถ๐ด๐ต ๐ข ๐ด๐ค๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ญ – ๐ข ๐ง๐ข๐ฎ๐ช๐ญ๐บ ๐ธ๐ฐ๐ท๐ฆ๐ฏ ๐ช๐ฏ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ง๐ข๐ฃ๐ณ๐ช๐ค ๐ฐ๐ง ๐๐ณ๐ข๐ข๐ง๐ง-๐๐ฆ๐ช๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ต.โ
He paid heartfelt tribute to the schoolโs remarkable 2025 fundraising successes, acknowledging the tireless efforts of parents, staff and community members whose contributions made several important projects possible.
Among these was the ๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐ฝ๐น๐ฒ๐๐ฒ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐น ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ผ๐ผ๐น ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ผ๐ณ – a major accomplishment made possible through teamwork, perseverance and generous community support. Mr Kingwill expressed particular gratitude to Montego Pet Nutrition for their continued partnership and investment in the schoolโs future.
In his address, Mr Kingwill also reflected on the schoolโs sporting achievements and the renewed emphasis on developing athletic excellence. He highlighted the progress seen across various sporting codes, applauding those who have worked tirelessly to raise standards and provide learners with enriching opportunities to grow both on and off the field.
A central theme of his speech was the importance of ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ ๐๐ผ๐ด๐ฒ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ – in academics, behaviour and values. He urged parents and the broader school community to stand with the school in reinforcing the principles of discipline, kindness, honesty and respect.
โExcellence,โ he said, โis not just about marks on a paper or achievements on the sports field, but about the way we treat others, the way we rise after failure and the way we carry ourselves when no one is watching.โ
Mr Kingwill also took a moment to express deep appreciation to ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐น ๐ ๐ฟ ๐ฅ๐ผ๐๐ ๐๐๐น๐น๐ฒ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป for his strong and steady leadership, to the ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐๐ฎ๐ณ๐ณ for their unwavering dedication and to the ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐๐ ๐บ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ for their continued commitment to the schoolโs growth. Special recognition was given to ๐ ๐ ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด, who will retire after many years of dedicated service as school secretary and ๐ ๐ฟ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น๐ฑ ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด๐๐ถ๐น๐น, who retires after 25 years of devoted work maintaining the schoolโs beautiful grounds.
Closing his address, Mr Kingwill reminded learners that every effort matters – whether or not it earns an award – and that true success lies in perseverance, character and courage.
