In what has been a very exciting development at Union Preparatory School, the school is tremendously pleased to announce that it has recently introduced isiXhosa as a subject at the school.
We, therefore, take great pride in introducing Miss Nonkuthalo Nguza as Union Preparatory School’s new isiXhosa educator.
Miss Nguza will be teaching isiXhosa as a third language (this includes grammar but with the emphasis on the grammar being useful to conversation and listening) in the Xhosa communication stream.
The language will be introduced in a phased-in approach, starting with our Grade 1 learners.
She will also be assisting the school’s isiXhosa-speaking learners in a remedial capacity to help them master the English language.
Miss Nguza, who hails from Port Elizabeth, has extensive experience in the teaching of English and isiXhosa and, as an added bonus, she is also conversationally competent in isiZulu.
Her teaching style is best described as being “familiar and friendly” as she feels you learn a language best when you feel comfortable and at ease with your teacher and fellow classmates. “You don’t learn your first language by being afraid but by being loved. I try to replicate that feeling in my classes,” said Miss Nguza.
Welcome to the Union family, Miss Nguza!
