On Friday afternoon, 29 April, Union Preparatory School, Graaff-Reinet hosted an internal 6-A-Side Hockey tournament to jump start the long weekend.
A total of eight teams (from u/9 through to u/11) contested nine rounds of hockey, with the number of wins, draws and losses by each team determining the winner – well done to the Pink Team – a Union High School u/11 side – who claimed the overall win on the day. The Black Team (a group of determined u/9s) claimed a very close second place.
This proved to be an exhausting, yet spectacularly fun afternoon with great participation from the young hockey players all-round.
A wonderful addition to the day’s play, were the Union High School senior 1st team hockey players, who umpired the matches, and assisted the youngers players with valuable instruction and advice on the field.
