During the school’s weekly assembly earlier today, Friday, 28 February, Grade 3 learner Jordan Maritz was recognised for his recent outstanding performance on the cricket field.
Jordan, who plays for Union Preparatory School’s u/9 cricket team, received the ‘Man of the Match’ award for the fixture played against the Frans Conradie Primary School on Saturday, 22 February.
In addition to scoring his first 50, Jordan also carried the bat for the 30-over match, which means that he, literally, faced the first ball of the match and was still batting when the last wicket fell.
