Union Preparatory School’s u/9A cricket team travelled to Despatch this morning, Saturday, 22 February, to play a 30-over match against their Frans Conradie Primary School counterparts.
As Frans Conradie won the toss and elected to field, Union went in to bat first, scoring 166 runs in their allotted overs with 6 wickets in hand.
Well done to Jordan Maritz who recorded his first 50 for the Union Schools!
Other top notch batting performance came from Murray Hope (30) and Claude Marais (20).
Frans Conradie then went in to bat and only managed to put 124 runs on the board.
Well done to Murray and Joubert Vorster for excellent bowling performances – they each took 2 wickets.
Union won the match by 42 runs.
The boys should be commended for their behaviour on and off the field as the day served up a brilliant display of good sportsmanship by these young cricketers!
