Over the years, the colourful ‘𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗘 𝗧𝗜𝗟𝗘𝗦’ honouring Union Preparatory School, Graaff-Reinet’s Grade 4 learners have become a much-loved feature on the school’s walls.
This tradition was started to showcase the smiling faces of every Grade 4 who passed through UPS before taking the exciting step into Grade 5 at Union High School, Graaff-Reinet’s junior school.
𝘚𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 2012, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘰𝘳𝘴.
This morning, at the Grade 4 end-of-year assembly, the 2025 face tile was officially unveiled – a moment always met with excitement and pride as another group of young learners takes their place in this growing mosaic of memories.
It is truly heartwarming to watch these young faces join the display year after year.
And perhaps the most precious thought of all is knowing that, when these children return to UPS in the years to come, their own younger selves will still be there to greet them – 𝗮 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹.
