On the sunny afternoon of Friday, 24 January, Union High School, Graaff-Reinet’s AstroTurf witnessed an exciting hockey face-off where the Union Schools’ youngest stars – girls from the u/7, u/8, u/9 and u/10 teams – took on a formidable opponent: their very own mothers!
𝗔𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗶𝗻𝘁-𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱, 𝗶𝘁 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿; 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗰𝘆!
With speed, agility and a sprinkling of youthful bravado, the little learners edged out their moms in every match. Each goal was met with cheers from the sidelines, showcasing the spirited rivalry that made the day so memorable.
